Make it Monday with Kraft Outlet: Clean and Simple Challenge

Welcome to Make It Monday with the Kraft Outlet. In case you didn't know, we're celebrating our new blog look all month long. In fact, to help us celebrate our new look, why don't you consider running right over there to our sidebar and grab yourself our new button and pop it on your blog back home.  Then come back here and leave a comment letting us know that you've got our new button on your blog and we'll enter you to win a $10.00 gift certificate to the Kraft Outlet! We'll make this announcement every Monday during May and randomly select a winner from everyone who posted our new button on their blog!  (We'll announce the winner along with our May $15.00 gift certificate winner).

You might remember that we also have a Guest Designer in the house, Pinky joins us again for the last time this month for our Clean and Simple Challenge 20. You can read more about Pinky at this post right here, or visit her at her blog. We'd like to sincerely thank Pinky for being a Guest Designer here at The Kraft Journal during four of our May challenges, we have been so inspired by her unique and fresh designs and we bet you have been too!

Okay now, use this week's Clean and Simple theme to inspire you to create a project and then link it up at the bottom of this post before 6:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Sunday May 29, 2011.  All participants in our challenges for the month of May have a chance to be featured on our "Feature Me Fridays" posts as well as be entered to win a $15.00 Kraft Outlet Store Voucher!  The more challenges you enter this month, the more chances you have to win!

Design Team Reveal: Clean and Simple Challenge

"Pinky"
Clean and simple can take on many shapes, for Pinky it took shape on this 8.5X11 layout using #202 Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock as the page base, carefully painting the edges in blue. Then using the #1024 Vintage Dictionary Pages as the matting for the photographs. She also used the Lunch Bag Cardstock again as a double matte. After applying the title and label tape she stamped a little bit of coordinating paint randomly all over the page for a more artistic look to match the vintage style photos.

Audrey Pettit
Audrey created a fun birthday card for this week's Clean and Simple challenge. This card is all about the neutrals. Here Audrey combined all the different kraft tones available from The Kraft Outlet for a look that is simple, monochromatic, and soothing to the eye, yet still rich in texture and depth. Medium-toned Brown Kraft Coverweight Cardstock blends with embossed Precut Chipboard to form the card base. Light Kraft Coverweight Cardstock stitched leaves pair with a dark kraft flower punched from Lunch Bag Kraft Text Weight Paper. All work wonderfully with the coffee-stained Grungy Prim Tag and a strip of Natural Twill Tying Tape. Light, medium, and dark neutrals. Together they form a simple and clean look that's filled with lots of eye catching detail. After all, who says neutrals have to be boring?

Tracy MacDonald
Tracy has created a CAS card using Brown Kraft Cover Weight cardstock as the base.  The designer paper is also matted on this paper.  The main mat of the card is Buff Ivory Cover Weight cardstock.  The pretty camellia image was stamped on to some vellum and the butterfly is also inked vellum.  A Natural Twill Tape ribbon and bow were added to the bottom of the card.

Kristina Harmon
Kristina made a Clean & Simple layout for this challenge. Nothing could be more simple than dry embossing strips of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Card Stock and inking it up to create a background.
Vintage Dictionary Pages create a cute border for the photo and a Buff Post Card Shipping Tag makes a perfect journaling spot. Visit Kristina's blog for more detail about this layout.
