Saturday Special: Prim Nest and Oodlekadoodle Primitives

The Prim Nest is a website that features a gathering of Primitive, Folk Art, and Vintage Artists helping you to feather your nest. There you'll find a vast collection of art and vintage pieces for sale by a variety of vendors and artists. Today I'm featuring  this antique style sewing bird, a design from Oodlekadoodle Primitives

This sewing bird has been made with civil war reproduction fabric that has been antiqued and sanded. She is 6" tall and 11" from beak to tail. There are 2 antique buttons for eyes and her body has been weighted so she stays in place. On her back is an antiqued osnaburg pincushion. Around her neck is a twisted cord with two strawberries, also made with civil war reproduction fabric. On each side of the sewing bird are wing pockets to hold antique notions. And to get you started, there is a card of hook and loops with a patented date of August 20, 1901 in one pocket. The other pocket holds a skein of brown floss. Also, attached to the bird in two different areas are antique buttons. You can purchase this creation for $49.99 at this link.
