Watch Us Wednesday with Audrey Pettit: Gift Pouch Tutorial

Hi everyone, Audrey here with a fun project tutorial for you for this week's Something Grand challenge theme. Today I'm going to show you how to make a quick and easy envelope-style gift pouch, perfect for holding small treats and treasures for your favorite grandparent, or any special person on your gift giving list.

Start by cutting a 6" square of burlap and a 5.5" square of Lunch Bag Kraft Text Weight Paper.

Stamp a large background stamp image onto the text weight paper and then stitch the paper to the burlap. The stitching will keep the burlap from continually fraying, while the lighter text weight paper adds stability yet still allows you to easily bend the pouch shut.

Fold in two opposite corners of your square until they slightly overlap in the center. Then fold up the bottom corner until the points meet. Stitch the three points together.

How easy was that? Now have fun dressing up your gift pouch with the embellishments of your choice. I wrapped a 1" strip of patterned paper around the center of my pouch, secured at the center with layered circles punched from Lunch Bag Kraft Text Weight Paper and patterned paper, topped with a vintage button and bead that came from my own Grandmother's sewing collection. A snippet of Hang Tag String adds a fun detail to the bead, while a pair of black buttons flank each side.

Dressed up a Small Kraft Shipping Tag with patterned paper cut-outs, tiny alpha stickers, and Paper Edges Rubbings. Added a Reinforcer Sticker to the top of the tag, tied a bow of Hang Tag String, and secured the tag with a safety pin to a bow made from Gypsy Market Seam Binding.

Tucked a doily into the inside pocket and filled the pouch with a pretty tea spoon and my favorite tea.

Hope you'll come and play along with our Something Grand challenge this week at The Kraft Journal. You still have until 6 pm EST on Sunday, September 11th to upload your kraft project to the gallery.
