Kraft Outlet DT Reveal for "Favorite Project of 2013" Challenge

Debbie Marcinkiewicz
For today's 'share your favorite 2013 project' challenge, Debbie is spotlighting her project from The Kraft Journal #116 - 'Tag You're It'!  Debbie began with a base of Lunch Bag Kraft Card Stock and then layered a piece of Buff Ivory Card Stock.  Next, a piece of Kraft & Black Card Stock was added and two lengths of Music Note Washi Tape was adhered along the sides.  A machine zig-zag stitch was sewn around all edges.  A piece of Vintage Keys Twill Ribbon was adhered around the middle of the card and then a Small Glassine Bag was stitched onto the base.  A pretty paper bloom was attached along with  leaves cut from a Mini Burlap Rectangle and a Vintage Keys Twill Ribbon bow.

Last, sentiments were stamped onto a Small Kraft Shipping Tag using the Banner Wishes and You Are Amazing stamp sets from Paper Sweeties and then a snipett of Black Burlap Ribbon was attached to the top of the tag.  Please visit Debbie's blog to view additional pictures of today's project!

Jessica Esch
For this week's "Favorite Project of 2013" challenge, Jessica chose the birthday card she shared for the challenge "Red, White and Blue" in May. It was designed for her son's birthday and spotlighted quite a few products from The Kraft Outlet. She started out with a Brown Kraft Cardstock base and added a mat of red, white (cream) and blue pattern paper from Peebles. She die cut 2 stars, one using the matching Brown Kraft Cardstock and the other using blue Bazzill cardstock that matches her pattern paper. Since the colors from the pattern paper are cream, Jessica added some white gel pen doodles to follow along with the challenge. Since this was a big double digit birthday card,  she added the numbers "1" and "0" using Tim Holtz Mini Numerals and popping them up using some foam adhesive. For the sentiment and additional embellishments, Jessica stamped "happy birthday" on some Cream Twill Tape using Stazon Black ink and used 2 Custom Fasteners  with matching star stickers.
You can visit Jessica's blog~ Chick-n-Scrap for more details on her inspiration.

Tammy Hobbs
For this weeks challenge "Favorite Project of 2013" Tammy choose to share the Vintage Dictionary Egg Topiary Tree she made for a tutorial. It can be found here if you missed it.  It is a great way to recycle those plastic eggs you have leftover from Easter. Covering them with Vintage Dictionary Pages adds to the charm. It makes a beautiful decoration for your home or a gift for someone you adore. Be sure to visit Tammy's blog: Creating Somewhere Under The Sun for more details and pictures of her favorite project from 2013 as a few other projects she enjoyed making over the year.

Karen Letchworth
For this week's "My Favorite Challenge" of 2013, Design Team Member Karen Letchworth chose to use this fun card from this past Summer's "Cute Critters Challenge".  She used various patterned papers and stickers, an inexpensive white doily, and some die-cuts to create her "critters".  She machine stitched the papers together, and then added the following supplies from The Kraft Outlet:  A Tim Holtz Memo Pin, Family Tree Journaling Card (yellow), and an Ephemera Label on top of that.  The base of her card is one of the fabulous Kraft Blank Note Cards.  Additional supplies include some beautiful lace, a flower, felt letters, and a crocheted cream doily under the flower.  For a complete supply list and further details, please stop by Karen's blog, My Cup Runneth Over.  Wishing you all a very blessed and Happy New Year!

Watch Us Wednesday

Hello crafty friends of The Kraft Journal!  It's Design Team Member, Karen Letchworth here to share with you all a super easy, fun, and pocket-friendly idea for our "My Special Idea" segment of Watch Us Wednesday.  This week, I'm sharing another great gift-giving idea.  I had purchased some super yummy Pirouline cookies at the Dollar Store, and I saved the canisters because I just knew they would be fun to decorate.  Here's how I decorated them:

I took several sheets of Vintage Dictionary Pages and cut them into narrow strips at the correct height to cover my canisters.  I covered the back side of each strip with a thin layer of Mod Podge and adhered them to the sides of the canisters - overlapping just a bit as I covered them.  This entire process took just a couple minutes per can.  Once I had the canisters covered in the Vintage Dictionary Pages, I covered the lids in the same way.  I then decorated each canister with some stickers and other little Christmas embellishments I had on hand, and tied them with Natural Hemp Cord.

Because I knew that I was going to use these canisters to fill with Christmas treats and give away as gifts, I added Round Metal-Edged Grungy Prim Tags to each canister so that I could write "To/From" on them.   It was the perfect finishing touch.

The Kraft Outlet is full of great products to help make your gift-giving and holiday crafting projects a breeze, and the prices are always right!  We hope that this little project has inspired you all to head on over to the Kraft Outlet to get some great new supplies, and then join our fun challenge this week.  I have several additional pictures, detailed instructions, and my entire supply list posted today on my blog, My Cup Runneth Over, and I'd love to have you stop by.  Happy crafting!

Kraft Outlet DT Reveal for "Something New" Challenge

Jessica Esch
For this week's "Something New" Challenge, Jessica made these adorable Christmas Pillow Boxes. She started out her project with the plain Small Kraft Pillow Boxesand decorated them with snowflakes from PKS using white ink. That was her "something new"~ adding stamping to an otherwise plain box. You can really dress up these packages to fit any holiday or theme, with the possibilities unless! You could also emboss these boxes which would give them another totally different look. But we will save that idea for another time :)
Once her boxes were dry, she filled them with some chocolate and finished embellishing them.
Using some White Twill Tapeshe wrapped them around the boxes and tied them in a bow. Before doing that  though, Jessica made the tags that are attached to each of the packages. Starting out with the White X~Small Tags , she stamped her sentiment from MCT~ Tiny Tag Holidays stamp set. She also added a cute stitched die cut Christmas Tree, also from MCT but the All Around Holidays Stamp setSince these would be handled by her kiddo's, she added an eyelet on each of the tags, just for some extra strength.
For more details on her inspiration card, you can visit Jessica's blog~ Chick-n-Scrap.

Debbie Marcinkiewicz

For this week's 'Something New' challenge, Debbie tried her hand at making a little goodie treat bag to give to visitor's during the holiday season ... the 'new' twist was a chocolate covered spoon she included in her {sweet treat}!  Debbie began with a Medium Cello Bag into which she added a packet of Peppermint Hot Chocolate, a candy cane and a chocolate covered spoon which Debbie wrapped in cellophane and secured with Red Baker's Twine.  Next, Debbie added a row of Red & White Polka Dot Washi Tape onto the bottom of a Small Glassine Bag.   Deb die cut a snowflake shape from a piece of Brown Kraft Cardstock and then folded it over the top of the Glassine Bag and wrapped some Red Baker's Twine around the treat bag a couple of times, securing it with a bow and a tag which she stamped "Sweet Treats" on using the Little Wishes and Ho Ho Ho sets from Paper Sweeties.

Debbie secured the top of her {sweet treat} gift bag with a length of Natural Hemp Cording and tied on a tag made using a Blackboard Tag and added a die cut snowflake stamped with a sentiment from the Have a Holly Jolly Holiday set from Paper Sweeties, a Red & White Chenille Candy Cane and a couple of fun silver jingle bells!  Please visit Debbie's blog to view additional pictures of today's {sweet treat}!

Kristi Schurr
Kristi's approach to the 'something new' challenge this week is to use a new supply. Some brand new Christmas paper fit the bill! She started her card with a base made from a Brown Kraft Note Card. She layered on a green patterned paper and then machine stitched around the edge. Another patterned layer and small file tab die cut was then layered on with foam tape. Kristi wrapped that layer with Red Baker's Twine and green hemp cording from the Dark Jewel Hemp Cord pack. She embellished the front with a deer silhouette die cut, some sequins, and a wood snowflake. Easy peasy! For more info and a complete supply list, visit Kristi at Kristi's Paper Creations.

Tammy Hobbs
For today's Something New challenge, Tammy started thinking about the New Year and wanted to create treats using the Kraft Truffle Boxes from The Kraft Outlet for Valentine's Day. This is a product new to her that she hasn't worked with before. The Kraft Truffle Boxes come flat which makes it easy to use a background stamp before assembling as Tammy has done here.  She placed a Lindt Lindor treat inside each one, added a seam binding bow, heart buttons which she laced with Red Baker's Twine. She used a Memo Pin in each to hold her sentiment banner she created from Buff Ivory Cardstock.  Please stop by Tammy's blog Creating Somewhere Under The Sun to view additional pictures and information regarding today's Something New Challenge.
Karen Letchworth

For this week's "Something New" Challenge, Karen Letchworth decided to try "something new" and make a few treats that can be used as gifts for Christmas giving.  For this first project, Karen took Co-Designer, Debbie Marcinkiewicz idea and made a treat bag for a friend.  She used a Small Kraft Coffee Bag with Window and filled it candies.  Next, she added some Decorative Tape to the bottom of the bag, and embellished the top with a doily, a tag, some poinsettias, and rusty jingle bells and berries tied on with Red Baker's Twine and Natural Hemp Cord.  At the very top, there's a Tiny Wooden Clothespin - these little embellishments are a cute finishing touch on just about everything!
Karen Letchworth
For this second little project, Karen used a piece of folded Kraft Chipboard to create a little tray for her candies.  The candies are Hershey's Treasures, and each little piece is wrapped with a piece of Decorative Washi Tape (you can use any style of this tape). She laid the candies in the tray, and placed them into a Cello Bag.  The little tag was very simple.  Karen simply ran a sheet of Lightweight Kraft Cardstock through her printer to create the little "chocolate" sentiment.  The sentiment was cut out into a circle, and backed with another piece of paper cut with a large punch.  To finish it off, Karen tied the sentiment tag to her treat bag using decorative ribbon and Light Green Baker's Twine.
For more pictures of Karen's project, and to read a complete supply list, please stop by her blog, My Cup Runneth Over.  It's time to treat yourself to "Something New" at The Kraft Outlet, and we also hope you will play along in our challenge this week to show us "Something New" that you have made.

Kraft Outlet DT Reveal for "Holiday Gift" Challenge

Karen Letchworth
Design Team Member, Karen Letchworth, absolutely loves making Holiday Gifts, so this week's Holiday Gifts Challenge at The Kraft Journal Challenge Blog was a lot of fun for her.  Karen kept it very simple.  She used the Mini Canvas Triangles to make this adorable banner.  They come with all three canvas pieces in one package for the low price of $2 which is a great price for gift-giving.  She added some Natural Hemp Cord bows, wool felt circles and holly leaves cut from wool felt using die-cuts, and also used some glitter-covered holly berries.  She attached the Mini Canvas Triangles to a candy cane pipe cleaner using hot glue, and then tied the ends with Wraphia Ribbon.  Very simple!  You're warmly invited to stop by Karen's blog, My Cup Runneth Over, to see her complete supply list and some additional close-up photos of her project.  We hope you have lots of fun using your Kraft Outlet supplies to create some fun Holiday Gifts for this week's challenge.
Tammy Hobbs
For today's Holiday Gift Challenge, Tammy created homemade Cinnamon Honey Butter and placed in decorated mason jars to be delivered in Kraft Bags which she lovely decorated She used lots of products from The Kraft Outlet today. She started by decorating a few Medium Kraft Paper Sack by die-cutting doilies from Buff Ivory Cardstock and distressing it with water and distress inks. The water will break down the fibers and give it a worn look.  She then die-cut Christmas Trees from Medium Kraft Cardstock adding stickles for a decorative touch. She stamped and added a Grungy Prim Hang tag by using a Hinge Clip she has painted off-white. Tammy created a paper flower using Vintage Dictionary Pages and Brown Kraft Text Paper using a technique she shared with us at The Kraft Journal which can be found here.
TammyHobbs
For the Jars, she printed tags using Medium Kraft Cardstock and embellished with ribbon, berry sprig, a button and Red Baker's Twine.  Please stop by Tammy's blog Creating Somewhere Under The Sun to view additional pictures and information regarding today's Holiday Gift Challenge.
Kristi Schurr
For this week's Holiday Gifts challenge, Kristi made a cute gift box using embossed snowflakes and the trendy chalkboard technique. She used a 3x3x2 Kraft Box  as the base. While the box was flat, Kristi heat embossed snowflakes on the four sides. After the stamping was complete, she constructed the box, used some Kraft Recycled Tissue Paper to the inside along with the box contents. She then wrapped the box with red and white ribbon and tied it into a bow at the top of the box. She die cut a tag from Blackboard Stock Paper, and white embossed the sentiment onto it. The tag was then attached to the top of the box using some red cording from the Dark Jewel Hemp Cord pack, along with some jingle bells threaded through the cord. Kristi made a bow from Wraphia Ribbon and added that to the top along with a wooden snowflake for the finishing touches. For more information on this project including a complete supply list and tutorial, please visit Kristi at Kristi's Paper Creations.

Jessica Esch
For this week's Holiday Gift challenge, Jessica made a 12 Days Till Christmas Advent Calendar for her son. She started out with a Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock  base and a file she downloaded from Lori Whitlock. Once all the pieces for the boxes were cut and assembled, Jessica cut the corresponding pieces for the tops of the boxes, sides of the calendar and top of the calendar using some Buff Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock and designer papers from Simple Stories. To make the numbers for each of the boxes which will be filled for her son with some treats, she die cut the stars and circles using My Creative Time products and stamped the numbers in the center of the circles using another My Creative Time stamp set.
For the next part of Jessica's project, she added a matching tag and some gorgeous ribbon for added details. To make the tag, she started with a Small Kraft Shipping Tag and added a sticker that matched her designer paper~ a Christmas Tree from the Simple Stories 12 Days of Christmas set. For the sentiment on the Christmas Tree, Jessica added some stickers from the Chit Chat Seasonal Word Stickers
For more details on her inspiration card, you can visit Jessica's blog~ Chick-n-Scrap.

Watch Us Wednesday !

Today we're sharing a great tutorial that  Jennifer Cuthbertson created for you showing how to create a hinged card using decorative brads and paper tape!

Jennifer started with a piece of buff ivory cardstock trimmed to 4.25 x 5.5 and covered it with strips of paper tape. Trim the excess tape with scissors.

Cut a circle from the buff ivory cardstock and a coordinating scalloped circle from some patterned paper. Then, stamp some foliage images; one in green that will be the background image, and others in dark brown which Jennifer cut out and popped up using foam squares.

Jen then attached the two circles together and attached them to the taped base using a Christmas decorative brad.

Cut a smaller circle from the buff ivory and stamp it with the Christmas greeting which is revealed when the larger circle is rotated.

This is a fun and easy way to change up your "normal" folded cards that could even be sent as postcards simply by addressing the back!

Don't forget that you still have plenty of time to join this week's challenge.
