Watch Us Wednesday with Becky: Shamrock Embellishment
Hello everyone! Becky here today for our Watch Us Wednesday tutorial, and since St. Patrick's Day is just a couple of days away, I thought I would share with you how to make cute shamrock embellishments with you ... perfect for cards, layouts, or just about anything. And they are very easy to make, simply using a couple of punches. Let's get started!
I am using two of my Epiphany Crafts punches, the Round 25 and Heart 25, but you can use any small heart punch and circle punch you would like. First, using a scrap of green cardstock (in this case, Bazzill Basic 'Card Shoppe') punch out three hearts.
Score a line down the center, and then ink the edges of all three hearts with brown or green ink.
Then cut out one circle ... this piece will serve as a base for the shamrock.
Next you will need to cut out a 'stem' This is fairly easy, simply picture a Roman goblet or 'chalice' shape. I simply drew one in pencil onto the cardstock ...
So then cut it out and ink the edges with brown ink. Next you need to cut off about 1/3 of the circle ...
Those aren't brownie crumbs in the picture, but rather brown ink pad crumbs! I use them until there is NOTHING left of them! Next, glue the 2/3 circle onto the stem like so ...
Doesn't it look like a toadstool or mushroom ... you can make them in the same way, but I would probably round the two corners of the cap so they wouldn't look so perfect. Now you can add the three hearts. I adhere the center one first, and then the two sides, overlapping slightly.
And then, to add a little bit of contrast to finish it, add a button threaded with cord, twine or embroidery floss.
And there you have a really cute and easy to make shamrock. Thanks for visiting today, and don't forget to come back on Friday for our 'Feature Me Friday' post! Blessings, Becky
