BUT - before we continue, we would like to introduce you to our newest Design Team Member, Kristi Schurr !

I live in Georgia with my husband of 19 years  and two children, ages 15 and 26. A retired military spouse, I now spend my days as a stay at home mom. When I'm not in my craft room, I can usually be found enjoying reading, music, movies, cooking and  decorating.  I began  paper crafting  as a scrap booker, but  turned to card making after my first rubber stamp purchase and have been hooked ever since. I like to create cards in varying styles, from clean and simple to shabby chic and everything in between. I am honored to be a part of The Kraft Journal design team and hope that my projects will inspire you to create something beautiful every day!

My blog is located at I hope you will stop by and visit me. I love making new friends and sharing this awesome craft with you!

Welcome Kristi - we are so thrilled to have you with us !!

Our Color Challenge

Kraft Outlet DT Reveal for "Color" Challenge

Kristi Schurr
For Kristi's first card as a design team member, she has chosen a card base made with light kraft card stock. After layering on some patterned papers and a scalloped die cut, she used a  small glassine bag, filled it with matching sequins and die cut the edge for a lacey look. She punched a hole in the folded over top and used two matching shades of Pastel Hemp Cord to secure it. After Kristi adhered the bag to the front with foam tape, she added a small clothes pin, butterfly, green seam binding and a cute pink felt flower as embellishments. For her sentiment, she stamped a pink banner, adhered it to the front and finished it off with little pearl clusters. For more info on Kristi's card, please visit her blog Kristi's Paper Creations.

Jessica Esch

For this week's Color Challenge, Jessica found this beautiful designer paper from American Crafts that had all the colors in the inspiration photo. Since the pattern paper had so much going on, Jessica kept her card pretty simple, by making the die cut flower the focal point of her card. She started her card by using a piece of Light Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock and layering it with some white card stock and the designer paper. Next she made another mat using a smaller piece of Light Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock and matching yellow designer paper from the same paper pack.  After stamping her sentiment, she put the mat aside to die cut her flower and leaves. Once all the pieces of her die cut flower had been cut, layered and assembled on her mat, Jessica added it to her card using some pop dots for added dimension. Then to finish her card up, she added a decorative stitch to the side of her card and tied a big bow using some White Twill Tape.

Lynn Darda
For the "Color" challenge, Lynn dressed up a Small Kraft Coffe Bag w/Window.  Lynn stamped an orange floral print onto the bag.  Then she attached a stamped tag with an orange Tiny Colored Wooden Clothespin topped with a Natural Twill Tie bow.  These coffee bags, filled with little treats, make a perfect thank you.  For more details you can visit Lynn's blog From My Bungalow.

Karen Letchworth
Well, Design Team Member, Karen Letchworth immediately fell IN LOVE with the gorgeous colors in this week's Color Challenge.  She grabbed a darling little Glassine Bag and covered it with an adorable Small Canvas Tag (which, by the way, is just the right size to fit on the front of the Glassine Bag).  These are the perfect size for giving a gift card or small treat.  Next, Karen took wool felt in each of the colors represented in this week's challenge, and cut flowers and leaves to adorn the front of her project.  She secured a button in the center of each flower with some Natural Hemp in the center of one.  She stamped a sentiment on a tag, added some pom pom trim, and she was ready to use her gift card holder.  The Kraft Outlet is just filled with awesome products to make crafting a breeze!  To read more about Karen's project, see additional photos and a complete supply list, please stop by her blog, My Cup Runneth Over, and say hello.

  1. Yay Kristi! Welcome girl! Gorgeous work ladies! You blow my socks off!

  2. Thanks for adding title for link. Wonderful color challenge creations. Usually color & sketch challenges are more difficult for me because I tend to not know what to do w/ the colors easily & I tend to overthink the colors & sketch. Had an idea for an ATC for a different challenge and decided to see if I could use the colors in it and am please w/ my result. Thanks for challenging me.
