Kraft Outlet DT Reveal for "Discover Something New" Challenge

Jessica Esch
For this week's Discover Something New Challenge, Jessica took this opportunity to try the chalkboard technique that she sees so many fellow crafter's sharing. She started out with some blank Blackboard Tags and using some adorable Halloween stamps she picked up at Micheal's in the dollar bin last year, she heat embossed them using  white embossing powderThen using a white prismacolor pencil, Jessica added some details to each of the tags around the border in a decorative pattern. Now for the fun part....She used a makeup sponge and some white pigment ink and went about giving the tags the chalkboard look. The great thing about this technique is that there is no wrong way to do it and you can add as much or as little color to the paper as you want to get the desired look. Then to finish the tags off she added some Orange Hemp Cording . Now she could have finished her project there but didn't want to leave the tags as is, so she decorated some Small Glassine Bags with a pieces of Black and White Polka Dot Washi Tape wrapped around the base of each bag.  To attach the tags to the bags she took some Tiny Wooden Clothespinsadded more of the Black and White Polka Dot Washi Tape and clipped them onto the bags. Now her tags can be given as gifts with some treats inside the bags.

Tammy Hobbs
For today's Discover Something New challenge, Tammy decided to use a product that is new to her at The Kraft Outlet: The Stretched Burlap 3x3. She used that as her starting point and added white paint.  She took a vintage Santa image and added it to a painted C-Flute Corrugated Kraft Paper which has been die-cut and layered upon a die-cut from Half Size Blackboard Stock Paper. She then added some Black Twill Tape around the outside of the burlap frame tied in a bow which was embellished with a glittered button and Black Baker's Twine. Lastly she added touches of glitter to the Santa image, C-Flute Corrugated Kraft Paper, and tag. This makes a perfect little gift idea for the holidays or to decorate your own home. For additional pictures and information, please visit Tammy's blog: Creating Somewhere Under The Sun.

Kristi Schurr
For this week's try something new challenge, Kristi decided to try her hand at a pillow box. This would make a great Halloween party favor or candy holder. She cut out the box using a digital cut file and her electronic cutting machine from Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock. She made a sleeve for the box with patterned papers and burlap paper cut with a scalloped edge die. She then stamped the 'Boo' sentiment onto a Blackboard Tag and embossed  it in green. She used a bit of cord from Dark Jewel Hemp Cord and some from Pastel Hemp Cord and tied it through the hole in the tag and attached it to the box.she made a pleated paper rosette and a glittered bat die cut to the center as the finishing focal point. For a complete supply list and more information, please visit Kristi's blog at Kristi's Paper Creations.

Karen Letchworth
For this week's "Something New Challenge", Design Team Member Karen Letchworth decided to use an old/repurposed household item and make something NEW with it.  It's always good to try new things.  So, this little Christmas gift holder was made with an empty toilet paper roll!  Karen machine stitched the bottom of the toilet paper roll closed with a straight stitch, and then covered the toilet paper roll with some Making Memories patterned papers, ribbons/trims, accents and stickers in addition to some awesome Kraft Outlet goodies.  There's a sweet little Tim Holtz Adage Ticket (Wish) with a Tim Holtz Memo Pin through it.  Underneath the Santa sticker is an Oval Brown Kraft Label, and the three buttons are each tied with various colors (brown, green and red) Baker's Twine.  There's also some Recycled Kraft Tissue Paper stuffed inside the roll as an accent, but still leaves enough room to tuck a little treat inside.  We hope you'll stop by the Kraft Outlet and treat yourself to SOMETHING NEW and then stop by to play along in our challenge this week!
