Challenge #177 - Summer Color Theme Challenge

Hi one and all, isn't it shocking that it is already Summer? To celebrate the warm sun and cool water we have chosen a Beach Theme Wedding as our Color Inspiration for this weeks challenge.

We love the warm tones of the sand and ocean grass. The tan and butter yellow compliment this setting and the bright pop of pink sets the whole thing off.  Take a look at the wonderful cards the design team has come up with.  Remember you don't have to use all the colors from the inspiration board, just a few!

Karen Letchworth
For this week's gorgeous Color Challenge, Karen decided to grab one of the Kraft Outlet's fun Mini Kraft Gable Boxes and decorate it with some layered wool felt flowers.  In the center of each flower, you will find a little button tied with some shabby country-style Natural Hemp Cord.  These fun Mini Kraft Gable Boxes (along with all the other fun boxes sold at the Kraft Outlet) are great for gift-giving, and they're a great bargain at just $0.70 each!
Karen Letchworth
Karen tied her box shut with a big fluffy bow made from Vintage Winter White and Pink Blush Hand-Stained Bias Tape.  She finished off her project by hanging a sweet little "warm wishes" sentiment from a Round Metal-Edged Grungy Prim Hang Tag.  For further details, please stop by Karen's blog, My Cup Runneth Over, and have fun creating with this lovely color palette as you play along in this week's challenge!

Tammy Hobbs

For this week's color challenge, Tammy started off with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock.  She layered a beautiful piece of patterned paper over the base. Tammy then added a smaller layer of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock to which she added a film strip background using Versamark Ink to give a tone on tone subtle appearance. Next she took a piece of yellow cloud patterned paper and cut into a banner adding it to the left side of the Brown Kraft Cover Weight piece.  She then added a Mini Gypsy Ephemera Label which she stamped some stars in Kraft Ink. Tammy anchored these pieces with Old Newspaper Washi Tape. Next she added her stamped paper-pieced camera image giving it a handle with some Yellow and White Baker's Twine.  She stamped her sentiment on a black and white sticker label. Her final finishing touch was adding a pink and yellow rose. For additional pictures and a complete supply list, please visit Tammy at Creating Somewhere Under The Sun.

Anitra Tovar

Anitra enjoys a good color challenge!  For her card she started with a Brown Kraft Cardstock as her base.  She then matted some patterned paper in the challenge colors.  To bring the white in she distressed the edges using white paint.  Next she stamped her sentiment onto some Buff Ivory Cardstock, which she cut using an oval doily die.  The Buff Ivory cardstock is one of Anitra's favorite  cardstock to use in vintage inspired creations.  With it's linen texture it added a cloth like appearance to her stamping.  Next she tucked a calendar sticker from the Lost and Found pack behind her sentiment.   To really bring the pop of color from this week's color pallet, she added a flower along with some burlap leaves.  An over sized seam binding bow in Oatmeal Cream was added to the card and another sticker from the Lost and Found sticker pack was tucked behind the bow and distressed with more of the white paint.  For more information on Anitra's project please visit her blog:  Stamping While They Sleep.

Kristi Schurr
Kristi's card began with a  base made from Brown Kraft Cover Weight Card Stock cut at 4.25x5.5 inches. She cut and embossed a pink panel and adhered it to the card base. She then adhered a Journaling Ticket to the middle left side as a base for her embellishments. She cut a small piece of Buff Ivory Cover Weight Card Stock into a fish tail banner and stamped a sentiment on it. She adhered it to the ticket and embellished the side of it with paper flowers, a bow made from Vintage Winter White seam binding , and a bit of Natural Hemp Cording. She finished the card with a small piece of Leave And Birds Washi Tape. For more information, please visit Kristi at her blog, Kristi's Paper Creations.

Aren't these examples wonderful and don't you feel like playing along?  Come on, what better way to relax and celebrate Summer!
