Challenge #185 - Color

Hi everyone and welcome to the Kraft Journal!

Today we have a wonderful challenge - COLOR!
I think kraft paper is the perfect background for all kinds of color! So lets see what the design team has for us this week.
Kristi Schurr
Kristi made a bright and cheerful butterfly card using Blackboard Tags and some green cord from the Dark Jewel Hemp Cord pack. She began her card with a white 4.25x5.5 inch card base. She then layered a purple card stock panel and a butterfly patterned paper panel on the front. She used a border punch to cut a pink paper rectangle and then layered it below a yellow polka dot patterned paper rectangle.Kristi embossed the sentiment in white onto the Blackboard Tag. She adhered it with foam tape at a slight angle onto the front of the card. She then embellished it as shown with a butterfly, paper roses and enamel dots. Karen Letchworth
This week, we have a GORGEOUS color inspiration challenge for you.  Design Team Member, Karen Letchworth was excited to work with these deep, rich colors.  She started with a Small Buff/Ivory Note Card and covered it with patterned papers that had the same colors found in the inspiration photo.  She added a Jenni Bowlin Vintage Mini Deck Journaling Card and Tim Holtz Journaling Ticket as a focal point, and embellished them with die-cut wool felt flowers cut from the same bright colors.  A small "Many Thanks" sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Buff/Ivory Coverweight Card Stock that's held by a Tim Holtz Memo Pin.  There's a small snippet of Tape Measure Washi Tape and a lovely bow made from "Butter Yellow" Hand-Stained Bias Tape. There are so many great products found at the Kraft Outlet that will help you to create something wonderful.  Karen invites you to visit her blog, My Cup Runneth Over, and she hopes that you will play along in this week's Color Challenge.

This week's color combination had Anitra really challenged.  Using the photo as inspiration she created a mixed media card.  Using different mediums and textures she started with a Buff Ivory cardstock as her base.  Next she adhered a patterned paper to which she painted using an acrylic paint and a chevron stencil.  Anitra then added some tea stained gauze to the patterned paper.  Using elements from the Ephemera Pack- Thrift Shop she adhered a number card heavily distressed with a purple ink.  Then she tucked a piece of Vintage Dictionary sheet behind the card.  Another great element Anitra used was a ticket from the Salvage Stickers pack Lost and Found.  She stamped her sentiment and die cut and distressed using one of the colors from the challenge.  To finish her card she added an edge punched boarder and tied a piece of Bright Hemp Cord.  For more information on Anitra's project please visit her blog Stamping While They Sleep.

We would love to see your take on the color challenge, so join the fun! (remember you don't have to use all the colors in the inspiration photo to join.)
As always, participants in our weekly challenges have a chance to be selected as our Featured Artist and showcased on one of our "Feature Me Fridays" posts. Each month Kraft Outlet will randomly give away a $15.00 Store Voucher at!
