Make It Monday Challenge #187 - Ruffles

Happy Labor Day and thanks for spending a little time with us today.

This weeks Challenge is Ruffles and they come in all shapes and sizes!
Tammy Hobbs
For this week's "ruffle"challenge, Tammy decided to create a Back to School card since school is starting tomorrow in her neck of the woods. What is more appropriate for this theme then to ruffle some Vintage Dictionary Pages?  Tammy started her card with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock onto which she added her patterned paper. Next she took a piece of red cardstock and cut down to a square and embossed with an ABC embossing folder. Using her electronic cutting machine she cut out a yellow school bus and placed inside a white die-cut circle and stamped the Back to School sentiment just below.  Taking a piece of Vintage Dictionary Page, she ruffled it along the bottom.  Then Tammy wrapped Red Baker's Twine around the card front several times finishing off with a length of Black Twill Tape tied off in a bow embellished with a red button laced with Red Baker's Twine.  For additional pictures and a complete supply list, please visit Tammy at Creating Somewhere Under The Sun.

Antira Tovar

Anitra has a love for ruffles and used some Kraft Recycled Tissue Paper to create her ruffles!  This tissue is a steal over at the Kraft Outlet!  Great for gift giving, and mixed media projects too!  Anitra created her ruffle using a double sided adhesive and pinch pleated the tissue while adhering it to the sticky strip.  For her card base she used a Brown Kraft Cardstock as her base and to it adhered a floral and script patterned paper.  Next she used a sticker from the Lost and Found sticker pack.  Next using a White Pearlized Decorative Label she distressed it using various inks and matted onto some brown cardstock, to which she stamped her sentiment.  Using a matching stamp she stamped her image and matted using the same brown cardstock.  To add further detail to her card Anitra adhered lace and some Rose Beige hand stained bias tape.  For more information on Anitra's project please visit her blog Stamping While They Sleep.
Kristi Schurr
Kristi went big with her ruffle this week! She made a charming homespun fall card for the challenge.
Her card started with a Brown Kraft Cover Weight Card Stock base cut at 5.5 by 4.25 inches. She layered a slightly smaller polka dot patterned paper over the base. Kristi adhered the eyelet ruffle to the middle of the card using super sticky red line tape and gathered it as she went. She then wrapped a piece of black seam binding around the front of the card and tied it into a bow on the right side. To create her sentiment tag, she die cut a bird from a Vintage Sheet Music Page and stamped an "I Love Fall" sentiment on it. She adhered the bird die cut to a Scalloped Grungy Prim Tag and used the tag string to tie it on the seam binding bow. She finished embellishing her card by adhering some small iridescent yellow pearls as shown. For more information and a complete supply list, please visit Kristi's Paper Creations.
