Make It Monday Challenge #191 - Buttons and Bows

Good Monday Morning and welcome to another fun challenge at the Kraft Journal.  This weeks Challenge theme is Buttons and Bows.  There are so many things that can be done with these two embellishments and we have some wonderful designs for inspiration.

To start things off let's welcome our newest design team member Marsha and take a look at her work.

Marsha Drain

With the challenge theme of Buttons and Bows, Marsha's thoughts went to sewing.  She started with Buff Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock .  The first layer is Lunch Bag Kraft .  Because she was going for the Vintage look, she added one more layer of Vintage Dictionary Pages.  The tape measure strip is washi tape.
Marsha hardly ever uses stickers but these Tim Holz idea-ology stickers were perfect for the vintage sewing flashback.  After making a double bow with Hand Stained Bias Tape, she wrapped the center with some of her favorite twine, Earthy Hemp Cord.

Tammy Hobbs
Tammy made a Halloween card for this weeks "Buttons and Bows" challenge.  She began her card with a base made from Buff Ivory Cardstock.  She then took Halloween patterned paper and joined them together and distressed the edges. She cut the panel smaller than the base and added to the card front.  Next she took a length of Vintage Winter White Hand Stained Bias Tape and wrapped it around the left side of the card and created a shabby bow embellished with a orange button laced with Orange Baker's Twine. Tammy stamped the Boo sentiment to a vintage Halloween label and added to the center of the card. She then printed out her vintage Halloween images using Buff Ivory Cardstock. After trimming out the image she wanted, she placed it at an angle in the center of the label.  She then added three buttons to the right corner laced with Orange Baker's Twine for a final finishing touch.  For additional pictures and a complete supply list, please visit Tammy at Creating Somewhere Under The Sun.

Anitra Tovar

For this week's "Bows and Buttons" challenge Anitra got creative! She altered mini tin tarts with using some Vintage Dictionary pages from the Kraft Outlet.  Adding vintage text to these ornaments created a nostalgic feel.  By distressing the edges of the Vintage Dictionary pieces with a Tea Dyed Distress Marker she added an even more vintage feel to these cuties!  She adhered different little embellishments to the centers. On the round ornament she added a rhinestone button to give it a more delicate look.  To each of the ornaments she added one of her favorite embellishments, hand stained seam binding in various colors.  The Kraft Outlet sells many lovely colors of this seam binding, Anitra just can't get enough of them!   To hang the ornaments she used Natural Hemp cording.  Anitra just loved creating this project for this week's "Button and Bows" challenge, and for more information on her project as well as how she has packaged them please visit her blog Stamping While They Sleep.
EACH WEEK THERE'S A WINNER!
As always, participants in our weekly challenges have a chance to be selected as our Featured Artist and showcased on one of our "Feature Me Fridays" posts. Each month Kraft Outlet will randomly give away a $15.00 Store Voucher at www.KraftOutlet.com!

  1. These are ALL wonderful projects, I hope I have time this week to play too! I think the link to Marsha's blog is incorrect though. I was able to track her down and leave her some love, though! Have a blessed week!
