Make It Monday - Challenge #205 Thank You

Happy New Year everyone!

After the holidays it seems like there is a huge need for Thank You cards, so this weeks Challenge #205 is Thank You.  What better way to send a beautiful personal expression of your gratitude than a hand made card?  Take a look at the wonderful cards made by the Kraft Journal Design Team and use these for inspiration for your next Thank You cards.

Marsha Drain
Marsha is making "Thank You" cards for family members who came for the family Christmas.  The daughter-in-law who drove the farthest is 8 months pregnant - she deserves a big thank you.  Marsha started this card with Light Kraft Cardstock base.  The main panel of Buff Ivory Text weight paper is stamped with the image and sentiments.  She really likes the linen texture of this paper and because it does have some texture, some colored pencil can be added over the black ink after the image is stamped.  For a few more details about this card, please visit her blog - Grammas Room.

Tammy Hobbs
Tammy was happy about the "Thank You" challenge this week as she needs thank you cards after the holidays. She started this card by adhering a piece of snowflake patterned paper to the Brown Kraft Cardstock card base. She then stamped the Thank You sentiment onto the Brown Kraft Cardstock panel with Jet Black ink and then sponged white craft ink around the edges followed by adding chunky glitter. Buff Ivory Cardstock was used to create a double scallop border to the panel before adhering to the card front. Next she layered a few snowflakes also made from Buff Ivory Cardstock to the lower left of the panel adding a blue rhinestone for a touch of bling. A few more rhinestones were added for further embellishing. Lastly, a length of Natural Hemp Cord was wrapped around the card front and tied in a double bow adding a few jingle bells for a festive touch. For additional pictures and details, please visit Tammy's blog: Creating Somewhere Under The Sun.

It's a brand new year, and great time to start thinking about saying THANK YOU for all the gifts and blessings we've received over the holidays.  For this week's Thank You Challenge, DT Member, Karen Letchworth made a couple of bags just for this purpose.  Together, they will make a set for giving a book and a gift card to someone who was a blessing to her over the holidays.  Her first bag is a Large Kraft Polka Dot Merchandise Bag which is large enough to hold a paperback book.  She kept it fairly simple by adding a doily which is folded over the top, and then she decorated an antique clothespin with lengths of Natural Hemp Cord holding some rusty bells.  She also tucked in a small "Thanks" sentiment which a rub-on.  Using her Bone Folder Tool, she rubbed the sentiment onto a small scrap of Buff/Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock that she also inked.

The second bag Karen used is a Mini Kraft Polka Dot Merchandise Bag which is the perfect size for tucking in a gift card.  This bag compliments the other, and is embellished in a very similar fashion.  Rather than using a pre-made doily, Karen die-cut a smaller doily from a piece of Buff/Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock for the topper.  Next, she added some smaller rusty bells tied with Natural Hemp Cord.  She attached her sentiment using the same method above (by using her Bone Folder Tool, and rubbing the sentiment onto a small scrap of Buff/Ivory Cover Weight Cardstock that she also inked).  She then took a Tiny Wooden Clothespin and sprayed it with Walnut Ink to make it look antiqued.  You can see this better in the picture below:
For additional photos, and to see how Karen ink-stained her Tiny Wooden Clothespin, you're invited to stop by her blog, My Cup Runneth Over.  Karen also hopes you will play along in this week's fun Thank You Challenge with us!
