Make It Monday - Celebrations!

Welcome to The Kraft Journal's Make It Monday Challenge #211 - Celebrations!

Did you know that the month of February is full of reasons to celebrate? That's right there is Ground Hog Day, Lincoln's Birthday, St. Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, Chinese New Year, Washington's Birthday and your own family birthdays and anniversaries.  We want to see your celebration cards and to get you started take a look at the wonderful designs from our team.

Marsha Drain
Presidents' Day , historically honoring George Washington and Abe Lincoln since their birthdays are in February.  Marsha used that as her inspiration and from there went broader to depict patriotism.  From her stash, she use a torn piece of ephemera paper giving the red, white, blue postal border.  The letters, "USA" are Tim Holz idea-ology stickers.  Similar collections can be found in the Sticker section at the Kraft Outlet.  The letters were put on small Scalloped Grungy Prim Tags.  She replace the strings with Red Baker's Twine and attached them to a line of blue Dark Jewel Hemp Cord.  The strip of washi tape is Air Mail tape, one of many fun decorative tapes in the store.   The card base is Light Kraft Cardstock.  You can read about a few more details on Marsha's blog, Grammas Room.

Tammy Hobbs
Mardi Gras is the theme Tammy chose to create around using this week's Anything Goes - Celebrations Challenge. She started by creating a card from Blackboard Stock Paper. She topped it with a postage stamp die-cut to frame the mask she cut using her electronic cutting machine. She added a Let's Celebrate sentiment below in black ink. At the top of the card, she wrapped beautiful lavender Pastel Hemp Cord and tied in a bow.  Sequins were randomly placed to finish her card. She wanted a complimenting treat bag, and she used the Small Kraft Coffee Bag with window which she filled with lots of Mardi Gras goodies. Please be sure to stop by Tammy's blog: Creating Somewhere Under The Sun for additional pictures and details about her Mardi Gras project.

DT Member, Karen Letchworth was thrilled to hear of an Anything Goes/Celebration Challenge because she knew it was a great opportunity to make a couple much-needed Birthday cards for her many nieces and nephews.  Karen made two projects for this challenge.  The first is a Birthday Card/Envelope Pocket for her nephew.  It's made using a Lunch Bag Kraft #10 Open End Policy Envelope that she decorated with patterned papers, embellishments, Tape Measure Washi Tape, some Pink Baker's Twine, and a rub-on sentiment applied using her Bone Folder Tool.
Karen's second project is a Birthday card for her niece, and was made using a Small Lunch Bag Kraft Note Card that she covered with patterned paper, machine stitched, and ran several lengths of Pink Baker's Twine around it.  Karen used a piece of Lunch Bag Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock to die-cut a doily that peeks out from a ticket and some Tape Measure Washi Tape.   An ink-stained Tiny Wooden Clothespin holds a tiny tag with a rub-on sentiment that she applied with her favorite tool, the Bone Folder Tool.
There are MANY more pictures and a brief tutorial on Karen's Blog, My Cup Runneth Over, showing how to make the Lunch Bag Kraft #10 Open End Policy Envelope into a pocket for holding gift cards, notes, etc.  Karen also hopes you will be sure to play along in this week's Anything Goes/Celebrations Challenge to let us know what YOU are celebrating!
Use this week's theme to inspire you to create your project and then link it up at the bottom of this post before 6:00pm (Central Time) on Sunday.
Please limit your entries two per challenge, others will be deleted.
