Kraft Journal Challenge #231 - Summer

"In the good, old Summertime, in the good, old Summertime",  that song always takes me back to my Grandmother's backyard and listening to her hum that tune as she tended to her flowerbeds.  Funny how sounds, smells and even corny song lyrics can take you back to a summer memory.

Now that the 4th of July is behind us and Summer is in full swing we can concentrate on making some summer memories of our own.  This week The Kraft Journal Challenge #231 is Summer, so show us what that means to you.

Marsha Drain
One of Marsha's summer activities, every year, is the county fair.  Using some cut outs from an old scrapbook kit, she created this card depicting the part of the fair that she now avoids - the amusement  rides!  First she started with a piece of Buff Ivory cardstock adding all the cut outs.  The Ticket Stub Twill Ribbon was perfect along the bottom of the card.  One thing that is really great about this ribbon, the pattern is sized so that it fits an A2 card, either portrait or landscape, without cutting off part of the design.  The card base is Brown Kraft.  For more details, please visit her blog, Gramma's Room

Tammy Hobbs
Tammy created a fun greeting for our current "Summer" challenge this week. She started with a card base of Brown Kraft Cardstock onto which she layered patterned papers light and airy perfect for a summer card. At the bottom of the patterned papers she added a scallop border from green cardstock.  She then took a length of White Twill Tape which she embellished with a button and tied off using Pink Baker's Twine.  Next she added a vintage card from the Ephemera Thrift Shop Pack which she followed by adding a die-cut stitched circle cut from patterned paper and placed just off the side of the vintage card.  She added her die-cut flip flops next adding a small rhinestone to the straps. Lastly, she added her sentiment in the lower right corner followed by placing a few sequins for an extra embellishing touch.  For additional pictures and product information, please visit Tammy's blog: Creating Somewhere Under the Sun

Stephanie Wright
Stephanie Wright really enjoys making fancy fold cards.  She thought a center easel card was the perfect way to showcase this little girl enjoying her bouquet of flowers on a beautiful summer day.  Stephanie started with a card base made from Lunch Bag Kraft Cardstock. She matted the image with the same cardstock.  She used Buff Ivory Cardstock to mat her patterned paper, for the writing panel on the interior of the card and for the sentiment panel. She embellished the card with some bling, sequins and some Dark Green Baker's Twine. For more pictures and details about her card, please stop by her blog, Steph's Scrap Happenings.  She really hopes you'll play along with us in this week's Summer themed challenge.
