Challenge # 236 - Take Your Pick

Hi and welcome to the Kraft Journal

Todays Challenge #236 - Take Your Pick is one of my favorites.  Show us something that uses any three items from the board below. Really mix it up or be Clean and Simple, the sky is the limit.

Let's see what the design team has for this challenge.

Tammy Hobbs

Tammy loves making school themed cards and this week's Take Your Pick challenge is perfect for that. She started with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock she layered with an alphabet patterned paper leaving the bottom of the kraft exposed. She stamped her sentiment in the lower right corner in black ink. She took a length of Natural Twill Tape and wrapped it around the card front where the patterned paper ended tying the ends off with a bow of Dark Green Baker's Twine and a red button. Using Buff Ivory Cardstock, Tammy created an Alpha embossed background for her focal image punching the bottom to create a notebook look.  She then wrapped more Dark Green Baker's Twine around the card a few time and tied off in a bow.  Next adding her apple that she cut using an electronic cutting machine she used various patterned papers, Buff Ivory Cardstock and Blackboard Stock Paper. For a final finishing touch, Tammy added a small double bow at the top of the apple created with Dark Green Baker's Twine.  For additional pictures and product information, please visit Tammy's blog: Creating Somewhere Under The Sun.

Marsha Drain
Marsha started with a piece of Buff Ivory Cardstock as the card base then used a piece of digital designer paper.   On top of that she attached one of the Vintage Journaling Cards  on which she printed and stamped the sentiment and the A+ .  The large apple is another digital image, printed, cut out, and popped on.  The ruler border is a strip of Kraft designer paper.  Marsha's three choices: ruler, red, apple.  For more details, visit Marsha's blog: Gramma's Room.

Stephanie Wright

Stephanie's project for this week's Take Your Pick challenge is a countdown calendar for her 5 year old grandson. It is designed to help him count down the days until she and her husband go to visit him on his birthday weekend. Stephanie managed to pack 4 (red, embossing, die cuts, and washi tape) of the 8 choices in the simple design of the front cover. She started with a base of Lunch Bag Kraft cardstock. She layered red cardstock and patterned paper over this. Using a VersaMarker, she embossed all the cars with clear embossing powder for some shine and dimension. The computer generated sentiment and a red mat were die cut. A piece of white cardstock was cut as a mat for the sentiment and then covered with Notebook Grid Paper Tape (aka washi tape). For pictures of the inside and details on how she made a pocket to hold stickers to mark off the days, please visit her blog: Steph's Scrap Happenings. Stephanie is looking forward to seeing your Take Your Pick challenge entries.

Use this week's theme to inspire you to create your project and then link it up at the bottom
of this post before 6:00pm (Central Time) on Sunday.
Please limit your entries two per challenge, others will be deleted.

  1. Have all the elements in my 2nd entry. Hoping that is ok. I entered another challenge with a different creation that was a recipe challenge of 1 image, 2 shapes, etc. Well, I had more than one image, more than 2 shapes and so they said it was not correct. They did not use the word 'only' 1 image or 'only' 2 shapes so I was confused. Please let me know if your challenge is only pick 3 and no more.
