Challenge #237 - Anything Goes Birds!

Today at the Kraft Journal we have Challenge # 237 - Anything Goes Birds.
My grandmother loved to watch birds.  She had an average size backyard, yet as a child it seemed like a wonderland.  She loved to garden and always had things to attract birds and  I still enjoy watching these beautiful creatures in my own backyard. Let's take a look at what our Design Team has for us with this theme.

Stephanie Wright
For this week's Anything Goes - Birds challenge, Stephanie chose to feature her all-time favorite bird, the loon, on this Fancy Fold Corner card. The card base was made with Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock. After making the fancy corner fold and stamping it with various colors of distress ink, the Copic colored image was double matted and added to the card front. An Antique Silver Label Holder was added to the front and the sentiment was stamped on Buff Ivory Cover Weight cardstock and glued inside.  The interior has Buff Ivory Cover Weight cardstock layered over striped patterned paper. Stephanie hopes you'll be able to play along in this week's challenge and that you'll visit her at her blog, Steph's Scrap Happenings

Tammy Hobbs
For this week's Bird challenge, Tammy started with a card base of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock which she layered pieced patterned papers together leaving the bottom of her A2 size card exposed to a thin space of Kraft.  In black ink, she stamped "So Tweet of you" to the lower right corner. Next she took a Brown Kraft Tag and stamped small butterfly images in Versa Mark Ink to create a subtle background. Once the stamping was done she added Natural Twill Tape to the top of the tag next adding the prepped tag to the card front horizontally in the center. Next she took a Vintage Black Journaling Card that has a bird on it to the left of the card front.  She die-cut a decorative circle in gray cardstock adding a punched scallop circle from Vintage Dictionary Pages to the center. She used her electronic cutting machine to cut out the bird by cutting it out three times with Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock and gluing them on top of the other to form a replica of chipboard. Next she cut the bird one more time from gray patterned paper and glued it to the top of the prepped chipboard piece adding it to the right of the decorative circle. In the center she added a multi-loop bow created from Earthy Hemp Cord adding a resin pink flower to the center to complete the card. Marsha Drain
Instead of making an A2 card, Marsha made a 6 X 6 verse display.  She was inspired by all the birds she watches each morning from her porch.  So with the Anything Goes with Birds challenge, it was a perfect time to finish her 12th 6 X 6 display (one for each month).  She printed the verses onto Light Kraft Text paper then attached a piece of the Vintage Music to the top part of the paper. With the beautiful black die cut giving some elegance, she added Black Twill Ribbon and also a piece of yellow ribbon to tie in the yellow color of the bird.  For many more details, please visit Marsha's blog: Gramma's Room.
